We Are Here, We Are There!
Chocolate Chips is committed to making the arts accessible. Here are a
few of the ways we have been involved in the surrounding community and
the community-at-large.
Here's what else we've been doing.
- Welcomed groups from as far away as NW Indiana & Milwaukee.
- Provided reduced and free presentations for community groups such as:
- Women's shelters
- Schools with high at-risk populations
- Youth centers and more.
- Invited hundreds of children from the Chicago Public Schools to performances, free of charge, through a collaboration with Chicago Communities in Schools (CCIS)
- Provided paid opportunities for both professional & entry-level adult performing artists, technicians and designers
- Developed new works, including workshopping original productions (from concept through completed play) with adult and student writers.
As part of the Kennedy-King College family, Chips has been involved in the college and the Englewood community for nearly 20 years.
- More than 50 Englewood schools and day care centers have been entertained and educated by our programming
- Within Kennedy-King itself, we have:
- Provided reduced and free presentations for college events and fairs
- Shared use of Chips props and set pieces
- Provided acting & backstage experiences for KKC students
- KKC's Child Developmental Laboratory Center attends all age - appropriate Chips performances, free of charge
- In 2007-2008 we will also be doing artistic programming and workshops in the Center itself
. . . and so much more !
